What is a Web site going to cost?

Establishing a Web site involves two distinct costs: first, the initial outlay for its creation, and second, ongoing costs of getting the Web site onto the Internet, and of maintaining it. Both of these stages involve not only money costs but also some commitment of your time.

Creating the Web site Costs can vary widely for designing a custom Web site depending on features and services required, complexity of design and number of pages. Plan to spend at the very least $750 for a simple no-frills custom designed Web site with three to four pages.

Estimating the price can be difficult because project parameters often change as clients immerse themselves in the project and discover new possibilities. Not all changes result in additional costs but when they do, we inform our client and request approval.

Getting the Web site onto the Internet Once your Web site is created, you will need to register a domain name (ours is "mevaser.com"). Domain names ending in ".ca" will cost about $15 per year. Domain names ending in ".com" or ".org" will cost about $18 per year.

Then you will need to select a reliable Web hosting service. Web hosting will cost between $5 and $20 per month depending on your needs. Budget for at least $60 per year for a reliable Web hosting starter package.

Maintenance and Updating

Your website will need periodic updating and maintenance if it is to rank favourably with search engines and incite your visitors to keep coming back.

At Mevaser.com we can teach you how to edit text and update images on your Web site. Alternatively, you can hire us to take care of all the details for you. Budget for at least 1 to 2 hours every three months for Web site related activities such as:

Keeping event information current
Adding new value-added information
Updating or removing dead links
Maintaining mailing lists .
